Strathdearn Cup – Semi-Final Beauly v Skye Camanachd Beauly and Skye Camanachd meet at Braeview Park for the right to play Fort William in next month’s Strathdearn Cup Final. Newly crowned Marine Harvest North Division 3 champions Beauly have beaten Lochaber and Kilmallie on their way to the last four. Skye, who are a league above, have knocked out holders Newtonmore Kingussie and Lovat in an impressive cup run. Sean Stewart and Martin Davidson provide a real goal threat for Beauly whilst Skye have been well served by Stewart Grant and Paul MacKinnon this season.
Orion Group Premiership Kilmallie v Newtonmore Newtonmore have the chance to return to the top of the Orion Group Premiership when they travel to the Canal Parks to play Kilmallie. The home side need a victory to retain an outside chance of surviving a drop to Marine Harvest North Division 1 but their challenge could hardly be more difficult. Kilmallie have been idle for the last three Saturdays and their last outing was a 7-1 defeat at Inveraray. Michael Rodger missed that game and could return. Martin Stewart is free of suspension. Newtonmore’s Andy MacKintosh picked up a knock in last weekend’s Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup defeat to Inveraray but will be given every chance to prove his fitness. Throw up is at 3pm. Kinlochshiel v Kingussie Kinlochshiel and Kingussie meet at Kirkton. ‘Shiel keeper Graham Kennedy serves the second game of his two match suspension and his brother Scott Kennedy will continue to deputise. Defender Mark MacDonald is a doubt as he tries to shake of the injury which forced his substitution in the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup defeat to Inveraray a fortnight ago. Manager Johnston Gill could give youngsters Jordan Fraser and Donald Nixon a place in the starting line-up. Kingussie boss Russell Jones will also continue to give his younger players the chance to show that they are ready for the rigours of top division shinty. Andrew Borthwick will take over from Russell Menzies in goal and Ronald Ross will again be missing. Fort William v Inveraray Fort William and Inveraray clash at An Aird. The home side celebrated their return home last weekend by coming from three goals down to beat Kingussie 4-3. The Fort continue to be without Gary Innes. Inveraray will be without Allan MacDonald who has a one match ban for a points accumulation.
Marine Harvest North Division 1 Lochcarron v Skye Camanachd There is a local derby at Battery Park where Lochcarron host Skye Camanachd. Lochcarron boss Andrew MacKenzie has played several of his rising stars in recent weeks as he looks to build a bigger pool of players for next season. Shaun Hedley returns from suspension for the Islanders but Iain Nicolson is unavailable. Lochaber v Inverness Lochaber have home advantage as they meet Inverness at Spean Bridge. Lochaber should have several regulars back after they missed last week’s win over Strathglass when they were attending a pre-arranged stag party. Craig Nicolson serves the second game of a three match ban for Inverness. Caberfeidh v Beauly Caberfeidh play Beauly at Castle Leod. Cabers have only two matches remaining after this one and they know they need another win to keep the pressure on Skye and Lochaber at the top of the table. The visitors will hope to have Marc MacLauchlin back in their attack after he missed last week’s defeat to Skye.
Marine Harvest North Division 2 Kingussie v Aberdeen University Kingussie and Aberdeen University meet at the Dell. Play-maker Savio Genini is a dohubt for Kingussie after suffering his second hand injury of the season in the recent draw with Lochaber. However he did play U14 shinty on Friday evening. Russell Menzies returns in goal following his first team appearance last weekend. Aberdeen University will be missing Kenny MacLeod who serves the first game of a two match ban following his red card against Skye last weekend. Aberdour v Ardnamurchan Ardnamurchan go cross-country as the take on Aberdour in Fife. Sean Laskey scored five times as Ardnamurchan were 10-3 winners when the sides met earlier in the season but this is likely to be a closer affair. Kyles Athletic W/O v Tayforth Tayforth were unable to field a team for their trip to Tighnabruaich to play Kyles Athletic so the points go to the home side.
Marine Harvest North Division 3 Inverness W/O v Lochcarron The Bught Park meeting between Inverness and Lochcarron is off as Lochcarron have been unable to raise a team so the points go to the home side. This brings to an end a fine Lochcarron run which saw them win their last five league games in a row. Kilmallie v Strathspey Camanachd Kilmallie play Strathspey Camanachd at the Canal Parks in what is the visitors’ last game of the season. Player / manager Lawrence Belleni should return for Strathspey after missing the defeat to Lochbroom last week. Throw up is at noon.
