Skye Camanachd remain top of Marine Harvest North Division 2 following their 3-1 win over Strathspey Camanachd at Grantown Grammar School on Saturday 22 August 2015.
Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie Pringle initially made just two changes to the squad which beat the Lochaber reserves 3-2 in the league at Spean Bridge a week earlier. John Gillies was called up to the Skye first team squad whilst Neil John Campbell was working. DJ Gilpin and U14 forward Ruairidh MacLeod were called up as replacements. However DJ Gilpin was unable to make it and keeper Jamie Gannon was a late call off. Ryan Morrison stood-in between the sticks whilst Ally “Cleodi” MacLeod and Connor Gilpin were drafted into the squad.
Skye seconds boss Davie Pringle was with the Skye first team at Ballachulish so Douglas MacDougall looked after the side for this 1.30pm throw up.
Skye took the lead when a John MacKenzie ball caught out the Strathspey defence and Angie MacDonald found enough space to shoot into the roof of the net to make it 1-0.
Skye doubled their advantage when Stewart Grant played a long ball over the top of the home defence to James Pringle who hit the ball under the goalie to score and Skye led 2-0 with half an hour played.
Matthew Davis pulled a goal back for Strathspey to make it 2-1.
However Skye restored their two-goal cushion when Ruaridh MacLeod got onto a ball across the D and his near-post shot flew past the keeper to make it 3-0 with half an hour remaining.
Skye had the chance to score a fourth when referee Archie Ritchie awarded them a penalty a couple of minutes from time but Connor Gilpin was unable to score from the spot.
Skye are now six points ahead of second place Glengarry who have a couple of games in hand.
