25 April 2013 The Skye Camanachd U14 side were 11-0 winners over Kinlochshiel in their Local League meeting at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Friday 19 April 2013. This was both sides opening Local League fixture in a section which also includes a Skye Camanachd U14 B side. The section winners will quality for U14 North Division 1 with the second and third placed teams entering U14 North Division 2 and 3 respectively. Skye made a lively start to the game with two shots from Conor Ross in first 2 minutes going wide of goal. The home side opened the scoring on 6 minutes when Ruaraidh MacLeod dribbled through ‘Shiel defence before slotting the ball past keeper to make it 1-0. Skye doubled their advantage thanks to a great finish from Ruaraidh MacLeod as his 12 yard shot nestled in the top corner of the net. A combination of some missed some chances and some good saves from the ‘Shiel keeper meant Skye didn’t increase their lead until 27 minutes with Conor Ross on target to make it 3-0. Conor Ross was again on target as he added a fourth from 15 yards on 36 minutes. Conor Ross completed his hat-trick when he knocked the ball in after rebound from the ‘Shiel keeper to make it 5-0. The ‘Shiel goalie made some more great saves before a terrific individual goal from Ruaraidh MacLeod made it 6-0 on 41 minutes. MacLeod beat three defenders before finishing in style to complete his hat-trick. Conor Ross made it 7-0 with his fourth goal of the evening on 43 minutes and the same player was on target on 54 minutes with a cracking individual strike from 20 yards out. The visiting keeper saved a John Gillies penalty after Ruaraidh MacLeod was hauled down in the D. Ruaraidh MacLeod took his personal tally to five goals as he fired home on 63 minutes and 65 minutes as Skye hit double figures Skye gave keeper Jack Henderson a run in the attack and he finished the scoring to make it 11-0 Skye Youth Coach John MacLeod was happy with result and although his side made a slow start to the game, they came good, especially in the second half. The second half centre-line of John Gillies, James Pringle and John MacInnes dominating middle of the park and Conor Ross and Ruaraidh MacLeod were in fine form up front. Kinlochshiel never gave up but they were missing several players and they will be a stronger outfit when the sides meet in the return game at Kirkton. Skye Camanachd U14 from; (to follow) |
