21 November 2016 Skye Camanachd have confirmed their management teams for the 2017 shinty season. The club have moved quickly to fill the vacant first team management position after John MacLeod and his backroom team stood down at the end of the 2016 shinty season. They will be replaced by Willie Cowie and Peter Gordon; two players who served Skye with distinction on the field of play. Cowie and Gordon will immediately set about plotting the team’s return to shinty’s top division. The list of previous Skye Camanachd managers since the club reformed in 1969 is as follows;
There are also changes at the Skye Camanachd second team where Kenny MacLeod takes over from Davie Pringle. MacLeod, who formerly managed Aberdeen University before returning to Skye, will be assisted by senior players David Grant and Allan MacLeod. Davie Pringle continues as Skye Camanachd U17 Youth Coach. He will also take a lead role with the Skye Camanachd U14 squad following Willie MacDonald’s decision to leave the post. However Pringle will look to put together a backroom team to assist with running the younger age group. Robbie Gordon continues as Skye Camanachd Ladies Head Coach. There have been a number of vacancies to fill and the club is delighted with the calibre of coaching teams. |
