Oban Camanachd “Young” Pups Come Out On Top In New Year Clash | |
15 January 2016 The Oban Camanachd “Young Pups” claimed the bragging rights as they beat the Oban Camanachd “Old Crocks” 3-1 in their John Collie Trophy meeting at Mossfield on Saturday 2 January 2016. The “Old Crocks” team included current Oban Camanachd first team manager Iain Hay as well as Fraser Inglis, Dougie MacIntyre, David MacCuish, Gareth Evans, David Devine and Alex MacVicar who was given the task of marking his son Daniel MacVicar who broke into the Oban Camanachd attack last season. Willie Neilson, who has just signed for Oban Camanachd from Taynuilt, made a scoring start with a first half double for the “Young Pups” The ever-green Fraser Inglis replied for the “Old Crocks”, beating keeper Gavin Stobbart with a low shot just before the break. Defender James MacMillan captained the “Young Pups” and he was given a run up front which paid off when he slotted the ball behind keeper Scott Buchanan to make it 3-1. The “Young Guns”, prompted by Scotland international Daniel Cameron, went close to adding to their tally through Malcolm Clark and Daniel MacVicar but Scott Buchanan was equal to their efforts. Referee Billy Wotherspoon’s final whistle brought proceedings to an end and “Young Pups” captain James MacMillan was presented with the John Collie Trophy by Oban Camanachd Chieftain Iain MacIntyre. |
