The Camanachd Association has confirmed the introduction of four new Plate Competitions which will take place during the 2014 shinty season.

With the new league structure containing an additional league, the Plate Competitions will provide some compensation for the reduction in league fixtures which many clubs will have.

• MacTavish Plate Competition – for teams knocked out in the first round of the MacTavish Cup
• South of Scotland Senior Plate Competition – for teams knocked out in the first round of AJG Parcels Glasgow Celtic Society Cup (The Glasgow Celtic Society did not wish to hold a Plate Competition)
• Strathdearn Plate Competition – for teams knocked out in the first round of Strathdearn Cup
• Bullough Plate Competition – for teams knocked out in the first round of Bullough Cup Competition

These new Plate Competitions have been included in the 2014 fixture list which was issued to clubs this week. 

The new league structure, which starts on Saturday 1 March 2014, includes the introduction of the Marine Harvest National League.

All leagues comprise eight teams except Marine Harvest North Division Three which has only six teams but will include a third round of fixtures based on the finishing position after the second round of games. Thereafter, the top three sides will play each other home and away and the bottom three sides will also play each other on a home and away basis.
