Lochaber 2 Skye Camanachd 3 | |
18 August 2015 League leaders Skye Camanachd seconds stretched their lead at the top of the table when they beat the Lochaber seconds 3-2 in a close encounter at Sean Bridge on Saturday 15 August 2015. Skye second team manager Davie Pringle made three changes to the squad which beat the Kilmallie reserves 2-0 in the league at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree a week earlier. David Grant, John MacKenzie and Angie MacDonald all returned to the squad in place of Kyle Pirie, DJ Gilpin and Thomas Wilson, with the latter in action for SCOTS Camanachd in the Bullough Cup quarter-finals. Danny Delaney gave Lochaber the lead in this 2pm throw up following a free-hit. Skye levelled when John MacKenzie ran at the Lochaber defence and he slipped the ball past the keeper to ensure the sides went into the break on level terms after what was a pretty even first half. Skye went in front when James Pringle latched onto a ball over the top from left to right and he played the ball across the edge of the D where Ryan Morrison made a front post run and he hit the ball first-time into the bottom left corner of the net to make it 2-1. And that’s the way it stayed until there was final minute drama. Lochaber attacked the Skye goal and following a scramble inside the D, the ball broke to Kirsty Delaney and she looked to have earned Lochaber a point as she slammed the ball home to make it 2-2. However Skye had other ideas and they attacked straight from the restart. John Gillies picked up possession for the Islanders and he played a long ball to Ryan Morrison who held off his man and allowed the ball to run to James Pringle who ran in behind him and Pringle dribbled the ball into goal area and around the keeper before tapping the ball into the net to win both points for his side. There was a stoppage of around 20 minutes during the match after Lochaber’s Mickey Gordon sustained an accidental blow under his chin which later required stitches. Everyone in the Skye camp hopes he makes a speedy recovery. Skye Camanachd now lead second place Glengarry by four points but the Craigard side have a game in hand.
