24 April 2015 Skye Camanachd A U14 were 7-1 winners in their Local League meeting with Kinlochshiel U14 at Kirkton on Friday 24 April 2015 Skye Camanachd A U14 Head Coach John MacLeod was unable to call on the services of his son Ruaraidh MacLeod who will be sidelined for around 5 weeks with a broken thumb sustained in the Sorley MacLean Quaich meeting between Plockton High School and Portree High School this week. Niall MacPhee was a late addition to the squad in his place. This 6.30p throw up was the opening fixture of the season for both sides. Martin Pringle scored to put Skye ahead in the opening minute with a smart finish from 12 yards. ‘Shiel equalised on 33 minutes when the Skye defence failed to clear their lines and Liam Campbell shot home to make it 1-1. Skye lost wing centre Calum Robertson through injury on 30 minutes and he was replaced by Christina MacDonald. Skye quickly restored their lead on 34 minutes when Mark MacQueen pushed the ball home to make it 2-1. Mark MacQueen got his second to make it 3-1 on the stroke of half-time. Shooting down the slope in the second half, Skye went on the offensive from the restart and Mark MacQueen completed his hat-trick to make it 4-1 on 39 minutes. Martin Pringle got his second to make it 5-1 when he cracked a shot in off the post on 48 minutes. An Angus MacDonald corner was turned into his own by Shiel defender on 55 minutes for Skye’s sixth. Skye introduced substitutes Niall MacPhee and Gilleasbuig MacVicar for Jamie MacPhie and Ryan Macaskill. However Ryan Macaskill returned to the field to make it 7-1 on 69 min when he got on the end of a Connor Gilpin free-hit to flick the ball home from 6 yards out.
