Inveraray Win 2015 Jock Paul Mackintosh Veterans Sixes | |
06 September 2015 The Inveraray veterans lifted the 2015 Jock Paul Mackintosh trophy at the Eilan on Saturday 5 September 2015. The tournament was played on a Saturday for the first time and six teams – Fort William, Glasgow Mid Argyll, Inveraray, Kingussie, Laggan and Newtonmore - entered this annual event. Fort William featured James Clark and Victor Smith. Neil Ferguson was between the sticks for Glasgow Mid Argyll whilst there were also places for Ex-Skye Camanachd player Ewen MacKinnon and former Kingussie pair Andy Dunn and Scott Falconer who was at full back. Graham MacPherson was in goal for Inveraray with Stuart Robertson and Ruairidh Graham also in their side. Kingussie included Davie Anderson and Michael Clark. Laggan were probably the oldest of the competing sides. John Sellar was at full back and Michael Sharpe and his brother were one of two sets of brothers in the squad. Newtonmore had Steven MacArthur in goals. Evan Cheyne started at full back but he was forced off midway through the tournament with a hamstring injury. Sean MacQuarrie was also in defence whilst David Balharry lined-up in midfield. Half forward Norman MacArthur and full forward Colin Stewart made up the attack with Tony Robinson on the bench.
The league round-robin ended: Inveraray – 8 points Fort William – 8 points Newtonmore – 5 points Kingussie – 4 points Glasgow Mid Argyll – 3 points Laggan – 2 points
The final brought together Inveraray and Fort William. It eventually took extra-time to separate the sides with Inveraray eventually winning 3-1. To round off a great day for the Winterton side, Douglas Watt was named player of the tournament.
