Event organiser Davie MacVicar was delighted with the turn-out and support for the third John MacKinnon Memorial Shinty Sixes.
Davie MacVicar said, “It was a great day’s entertainment for all those involved and there were some exciting and hard fought games before the Golden Oldies won for a second successive year. It was fitting that John MacKinnon’s Grandson Iain Nicolson would score the winning goal in the final.”
“Thanks to all twelve teams who came along and to everyone who watched the matches on the day.”
“A lot of work goes in behind the scenes and I’d like to thank sponsors Highland Industrial Supplies and also the Shinty Shop for their continued financial support.”
“Thanks are also due to referees Donnie Martin and John Angus Gillies and game scorers and organisers Alasdair Bruce, Douglas MacDougall and Davie Pringle as well as Dr Wilson Banks and Helen Gilpin who provided superb medical support and Chrisanne MacDonald who was on duty to provide teas and coffees. I would also like to thank everyone who made soup and sandwiches which were gratefully received at the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse afterwards.”
“There was a terrific reception in the Skye Camanachd Clubhouse afterwards where everyone was able to get together socially.”
“I was delighted to see afterwards that Moreen Pringle has put 174 photos from the day on Facebook.”
“Finally, we send our best wishes to Lorna MacRae who suffered a dislocated elbow in one of the games and we hope she makes a speedy recovery.”
