Daniel Madej To Captain Scotland U21 Against Ireland U21 | |
19 October 2015 Oban Celtic’s Daniel Madej will captain Scotland U21 in the Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling International against Ireland U21 at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 24 October 2015. Scotland U21 Head Coach Garry Reid confirmed the appointment saying, “Daniel has played Shinty / Hurling at both U17 and U21 level and he was of course part of last year’s winning squad so he has that experience. He’s a likeable lad and he’s popular amongst the squad and I’m sure he’ll do a good job. It’s probably a quieter squad this year but all the boys get on well and sometimes that bond and player development is bigger than winning the game itself. The Coaches of course all hope that we can have several captains on the field during the game.” Madej has made the switch this season from playing in defence to playing in the forward line for his club Oban Celtic. It has been a profitable switch with Madej scoring 17 goals already this season. However Reid sees him as a defender where he has served the Scots well in the past.
