The North U14 and U17 district representative matches will be held at Spean Bridge on Sunday 25 August 2013 and Sunday 1 September 2013.
As well as being inter – district competitions the events will also provide an opportunity for players to stake a claim for places in The North representative teams to play the South on Sunday September 29th at Fort William.
The Four Districts are:
- Inverness area – Glenurquhart, Lovat, Beauly, Caberfeidh, Inverness, Strathglass
- Lochaber – Kilmallie, Fort William, Glengarry, Ardnamurchan, Lochaber
- Skye & Wester Ross – Uist, Lewis, Skye Camanachd, Lochbroom, Lochcarron, Kinlochshiel
- Badenoch & Strathspey - Kingussie, Newtonmore, Strathspey, Boleskine, Kinlochbervie
The Format is:
- The appointed coaches for each District will select an 18 player squad after contacting all club youth coaches in their area for nominations/recommendations.
- The District Coaches will prepare their squad and take them to the Inter District competition at Spean Bridge which will be played out on one day.
- A draw will be made on the day and the first two districts drawn will play each other followed by the remaining two.
- The runners up will play off for third and fourth place and the winners will play off for first and second place.
The Dates and Times are:
- U14’s – Sunday 25 August 2013 commencing at 12.00. Games will be 25 minutes each way.
- U17’s – Sunday 1 September 2013 commencing at 12.00. Games will be 30 minutes each way.
The Coaches for 2013 are:
- Inverness – U14 Stuart Morrison / Gregor MacCormack, U17 Martin Bell
- Lochaber – U14 Duncan Kelly / Frankie Innes, U17 Iain Smith
- Skye & W. Ross – U14 Ross MacMillan / John Macleod, U17 Davie MacVicar
- Badenoch – U14 Dallas Young / Iain Borthwick, U17 Jimmy Gow / Michael Ritchie
The coaches of the two Districts that contest the finals will be offered the opportunity to work together to select and coach the North Area team against the South Area at Fort William on Sunday 29 September 2013.
This event is held annually, with the kind support of Ferguson Transport, and as well as making the North area selection process as open and transparent as possible, it provides players and coaches with a pathway from club shinty to District and on to Area shinty before progressing on to International participation.
The Rules and Conditions are:
- All players must be eligible to compete in the 2013 U14 and U17 Camanachd Association competitions and be Camanachd Association members.
- The District coaches selection decisions shall be final and are not open to appeal or negotiation.
- Players who cannot play in District games due to illness, injury, holidays or school trips will still be available for selection for the North area at coaches discretion although players will greatly increase their chances by taking part.
- Standard Camanachd Association rules will apply during games although all six substitutes will be allowed to be rolled on and off at any time.
Clubs are asked to co-operate with and assist District coaches wherever possible with player contact details and transport for trials and match day.
District coaches will be rotated each year so that all clubs and coaches are given an opportunity to contribute.
