Skye Boss MacVicar Praises Defensive Unit | |
05 July 2011 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar praised the performance of his defence in their 1-1 Marine Harvest North Division 2 draw with Fort William at An Aird on Saturday 2 July 2011. Speaking to Cuillin FM’s Monday Breakfast Show MacVicar said, “Trips to An Aird for the second team have usually resulted in losses so it was good to take something out of the game. I think we deserved the point and we had a good defensive unit this week and I was pleased with that. We also forced their keeper Cal Brown to make several great saves” “We took the wind advantage in the first half but lost an early goal from a spectacular shot from around 45 yards by Peter Wood. That put us on the back foot for a bit but a couple of tactical changes made a difference to how we performed. Magnus Burd did well to score his goal and his inclusion gives us a different dimension.” “I listed myself as a substitute as we had a late call-off and I was unable to get another player on Saturday morning. Other than that, the average age of our side was 18 and that’s how it has been for most of the season. Fort William were the same and I think they only had one player over 21 so it was a good game with lots of good young players on show.” “We now have an Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup semi final against Kingussie at Invergarry to look forward to. I pretty much have the squad in mind for the weekend and I’m looking for the players to continue the cup form they have shown already this season.” |
