Camanachd Association Player Sponsorship Scheme Reaches £2,100. | |
18 October 2010 There have been some new additions to the Camanachd Association’s player sponsorship scheme ahead of the Shinty / Hurling internationals against Ireland. A total of 14 players from the senior and U21 squads have been backed with only 9 of the senior squad still available for sponsorship. This has raised £2,100 so far which will help with the costs associated with holding the first international double header between Scotland and Ireland. The latest players to be sponsored include senior forward Finlay MacRae from Kinlochshiel who has been backed by MacRae Kintail Buses. Finlay Nicolson Joinery & Building Contractors, Fort Augustus will sponsor Lochaber’s Shaun Nicolson of Lochaber. Robertson Homes will sponsor Kingussie’s Ronald Ross. SA Borthwick, Plumbing will sponsor U21 player Ryan Borthwick of Kingussie whilst D Kelly Design, Fort William will support Kilmallie’s Michael Rodger. Businesses have been invited to sponsor any individual squad player for only £150. In return, the sponsor will receive 2 VIP tickets and reserved seats for the international at the Bught Park, Inverness, an invitation to the pre-match reception, a replica strip of player concerned and recognition in both the match programme and Camanachd Association website. There are still other star names available for sponsorship including Fort William’s Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup winning captain Naill MacPhee and his team mate John MacDonald who was 2008 Marine Harvest Player of the Year. . The Shinty / Hurling internationals take place at Croke Park on 30 October 2010 and at the Bught Park, Inverness a fortnight later.
