09 October 2011 Skye Camanachd beat Glengarry 5-1 in their final Marine Harvest North Division 2 match of the season at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 1 October 2011. Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar named a 16 man squad with just two changes from the side which beat Glenurquhart in their last outing. Jordan Murchison and Will Cowie dropped out of the squad as they were in representative action the following day. Shaun Hedley and John MacKenzie came into the pool in their place and both started as substitutes. Danny Morrison, Iain MacLellan and Magnus Burd came off the bench to start whilst Allan MacKinnon dropped onto the bench. Glengarry travelled with just twelve players. They were without Scotland U17 forward Ewan Brady who had and knee injury and Arran Clark, Mathew Clark, Kenny Henderson and Fraser MacInnes. Skye threatened after just 4 minutes when Danny Morrison made space for himself before shooting past the post. Danny Morrison went close again a minute later after good work by Magnus Burd. Skye took the lead on 7 minutes when Ally MacDonald played a free-hit to David Grant and he smashed the bouncing ball, low past ‘Garry keeper Gordon MacDonald. A good Skye passing move on 14 minutes involved Ally MacDonald and David Grant and ended when Danny Morrison took the ball in the air and shot goalwards. However goal judge Donnie Martin flagged for offside. Gordon MacDonald saved from David Grant on 18 minutes. The ball broke to Ally MacDonald who looked certain to score until he was felled inside the D and referee Deek Cameron had no hesitation in awarding a penalty. David Grant stepped forward to send an unstoppable spot-hit shoulder high into the net to make it 2-0. Skye keeper John MacLeod palmed away a high ball into the Skye goal area on 20 minutes. Skye increased their lead on 23 minutes when a move involving Magnus Burd and Danny Morrison ended with the lively Iain MacLellan shooting home to make it 3-0. Glengarry fought back and when the Skye defence failed to cleared their lines on 29 minutes, Steven Cameron shot high into the net to make it 3-1. However it took Skye only 3 minutes to restore their two goal advantage. David Grant and Ally MacDonald again linked up to set up a shooting opportunity for Danny Morrison and he crashed the ball into the roof of the net. Visiting keeper Gordon MacDonald saved from Danny Morrison and David Grant in the closing stages of the first half. David Grant played the ball to Iain MacLellan on 51 minutes but he shot wide. Shaun Hedley replaced Magnus Burd after 53 minutes. Iain Morrison dropped back to win possession on 57 minutes and he played the ball down the left wing to Iain MacLellan who provided a cut-back for Danny Morrison. He played a one-two with David Grant before firing a great 30 yard shot just off target. Skye went 5-1 up a minute later. The Glengarry defence tried to clear the ball but good harassing from the Skye forwards prevented them from doing this and David Grant managed to lay the ball off to Danny Morrison who confidently shot into the net for his second goal of the afternoon. Danny Morrison, who seemed to be suffering the effects of cramp, was replaced by John MacKenzie on the hour mark. Ben Armitage shot wide from a Scott Johnston corner on 63 minutes. Gordon MacDonald used his body to keep out a 40 yard shot from Darryl Macintosh on 67 minutes. Skye full back Neil MacVicar picked up a foot injury early in the second half and he was forced to leave the field with 15 minutes remaining. Ally MacLeod came on in his place and Iain Grant went to full back. John MacKenzie shot wide after 76 minutes after been set up by David Grant. Referee Deek Cameron spoke to Skye’s Iain Morrison and Glengarry’s Scott Johnston after a midfield tussle threatened to get out of hand a couple of minutes later. Magnus Burd returned to action in the forward line in place of Iain MacLellan on 81minutes. Ally MacDonald almost notched Skye’s sixth in the closing minutes. Gordon MacDonald stretched to save with his caman to deny David Grant his hat-trick in injury time. Michael Brady was fortunate note to pick up a yellow card for a reckless swing which caught Skye defender Neil John Campbell in what was the last action of the game. Best for Skye were Iain Nicolson and Darryl Macintosh whilst the goalscorers took their goals well. Steven Cameron and Daniel MacLennan both put in a big shift for Glengarry.
