17 September 2011 Newtonmore won the 2011 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup when they beat Kingussie 4-3 after extra time at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 17 September 2011. Newtonmore got off to a whirlwind start and Danny MacRae blasted the ball past Andrew Borthwick after just 12 seconds. Norman MacArthur's side went two up on 6 minutes when Danny MacRae was left unmarked at the back post and he needed no second invitation to score. A blistering drive from Fraser Munro brought Kingussie back into the game but Newtonmore restored their two goal advantage when Danny MacRae netted for the second time just before the break. However if Newtonmore dominated the first half, then Kingussie certainly had the better of the second period. They got their reward when Martin Dallas slammed the ball into the roof of the net to make it 3-2. Kingussie drew level 12 minutes from time when a Ronald Ross snap-shot from aoutside the D took the merest deflection on its way past Michael Ritchie into the net. With no further scoring, referee Deek Cameron took the match into extra time and with just 5 minutes remaining and penalties looming, Danny MacRae drove the ball into the net to take the cup to Newtonmore for the first time in 25 years.
