30 April 2010 Donald Stewart has been re-elected Camanachd Association Director of Communications following a secret ballot at the Camanachd Association AGM in Fort William on Friday 30 April 2010.
The position of Director of Communications was contested between Dave Fallows and Donald Stewart who had held the post since 2007. Stewart was successfully re-elected by 19 votes to 11 votes.
Donald Stewart stated his claim for election by saying, “In the last 2 years I have;
There is much to do to further promote and develop shinty and to improve its administration and facilities. I would like to continue on the Board to do this.”
The role of Communications Director is to strategically lead on developments that will promote and enhance understanding of values, image and standing of the Camanachd Association as well as the sport of shinty, to a wide audience with expected returns such as increasing recognition and sponsorship.
An average commitment time of 10 hours a month is suggested in the Camanachd Association’s role description although as any club volunteer will confirm, this may be a tad conservative!
