| MacVicar Rues Side’s Misfortune. | |
| 30 March 2010 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar rued his young side’s misfortune as a late goal condemned them to a 3-2 defeat to Lovat in Marine Harvest North Division 2 at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 27 March 2010.
Speaking on Cuillin fm’s Sports Show after the game, MacVicar was pleased with his side’s endeavour. “We were playing a side who reached the finals of both the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup and the Strathdearn Cup last season and who beat the victors in these finals, Fort William, last weekend. We matched them until the closing stages of the game and I’m pleased with that.”
When asked about selection options because of players called up to the first team, MacVicar said, “The first team takes priority and I and everyone at the club believes that to be correct. However we missed Martin Bruce’s presence in defence today and I’m sure we would have taken something from the game if he’d been in the side.”
MacVicar continues to field a young side and is looking to introduce even more players from the 2009 London Shield winning squad and the 2009 U14 North Division 1 title winning side. “Shaun Hedley continues to impress in defence in what was only his second match for the side. Daniel Morrison has done like-wise in the middle of the park whilst Neil MacVicar is gaining plaudits for his displays. Jordan Murchison is such a dedicated player who we have high hopes for as is Ian Grant who is playing out of position in the forward line but still gives his all. I am rotating the substitutes. This week it was Ally MacLeod, Magnus Burd and John Gillies but Scott MacLeod, Chris MacLennan and Calum Gibb will also feature in the side this season.” | |
