The 102nd Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final between Fort William and Kyles Athletic takes place at Mossfield, Oban on Saturday 19 September 2009.
The 2009 meeting of Fort William and Kyles Athletic is a repeat of the 1994 final which was held at the Bught Park, Inverness. Kyles won 3-1 on that occasion through a Peter Mobeck double and a Neil Nicolson strike. Ronnie MacLeod notched Fort William’s goal. The Kyles’ cause was aided by superb performances from Dan MacRae, Ronnie MacVicar and man of the match, the late Andy Irvine. Kyles captain David Taylor – who is now based on Skye and is a youth shinty coach at Portree Primary School – accepted the famous trophy to the delight of the Tigh na Bruaich team’s supporters.
The 2009 final throws up at 1.45pm and will be broadcast live on both television and radio. Television coverage will be on BBC2 Scotland and radio coverage is on both BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio nan Gaidheal.
