The 2009 Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup Final between Fort William and Lovat takes place at Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 1 August 2009.

Fort William were the 2008 Sutherland Cup runners up and they set off on the road to the 2009 final on 11 April 2009 with a comfortable win over Inverness. Victor Smith gave the Fort the lead after 11 minutes and James Cameron made it two a minute later. Bobby McMillan made it three, minutes before the break and Daniel Stewart added his name to the score sheet 5 minutes after the break. Ryan Campbell made in five after 57 minutes and James Cameron completed the scoring with his second after 66 minutes.

Fort William looked to have a straight forward trip to take on Aberdour on 9 May 2009 in the second round but it didn’t exactly turn out that way Scott Rodger gave the home side the lead after 20 minutes and he scored a second 5 minutes later. Veteran striker Victor Smith pulled a goal back 3 minutes before the break and the same player levelled the tie after 57 minutes. Ryan Campbell gave the visitors the lead on the hour mark but Joe Dunton levelled after 63 minutes. Campbell scored his second after 70 minutes to give the Fort the edge once again and clinch a quarter final tie at the Eilan against Newtonmore.

On 30 May 2009 Fort William travelled to the Eilan to play Newtonmore in the third round. It was a goalless first half but Michael Slezas gave the visitors the lead a couple of minutes after the break but Conor Jones levelled on 50 minutes. Victor Smith restored the Fort’s advantage a couple of minutes later and Daniel Stewart made it 3-1 on 70 minutes. The Fort were drawn to play Marine Harvest North Division 3 league leaders Glenurquhart in the semi finals. 

The semi final clash between Fort William and Glenurquhart at An Aird on 11 July 2009 turned out not to be as close as many had expected. Ryan Campbell gave Fort the lead after 5 minutes but a quick double from Calum Fraser and David Smart gave the Glen a 2-1 interval lead. Veteran Deek Campbell leveled 5 minutes into the second half and Ryan Campbell gave the home side the lead in 63 minutes from the penalty spot. Cameron mad it 4-2 and another veteran, Victor Smith, made it 5-2 after 77 minutes. Ryan Campbell completed his hat-trick 5 minutes from the end to seal a convincing win.
