19 July 2009 Skye Camanachd remain 5 points clear at the top of Marine Harvest North Division 1 with a 4-1 victory over Lochcarron at Battery Park on Friday 17 July 2009. This Skye victory was all the more impressive as the Islanders were without Allan MacLeod, Alan Palmer, Allan MacKinnon, Norman MacLeod and AB Conner as well as Somhairle MacDonald. Danny Morrison came into the forward line and Shockie MacLennan started in midfield. Michael MacMillan started between the posts for Lochcarron which allowed Kenny Ross to start at buckshee forward. John Martin Philips made the trip north to play in the forward line. Skye drew first blood on 9 minutes when a Shockie MacLennan corner on the right from arrived at the feet of Dougie Rankin and he teed up Ally MacLennan to smash home the opening goal. The home side levelled on 30 minutes when Iain MacKenzie saw his effort blocked but Ben Dalgetty took advantage to slam the ball into the roof of the net. Skye regained the lead 5 minutes after the break with a copycat effort to their opener. Shockie MacLennan’s corner from the right was dummied by Dougie Rankin and Kerr Gibb fired a great shot, low into the net. Shockie MacLennan came close to increasing Skye’s lead when he fired a terrific shot just wide of the junction between post and crossbar. Skye increased their lead on 67 minutes when a Dougie Rankin cross was despatched into the net by Ally MacLennan. Lochcarron’s Allan MacKenzie was withdrawn after 72 minutes with a hamstring injury. David MacCuish was brought back into defence and performed particularly well at full back for the remainder of the game. Just 3 minutes from the end, Michael MacMillan saved a curling 25 yard strike from Ally MacLennan but the ball fell for Kenny Campbell and he tucked the ball into the back of the net to give the league leaders a 4-1 win.
