Newtonmore shinty players Glen Tonkin and David Campbell have raised an incredible £8,500 for Marie Curie Cancer Care with a series of fund raising events.

A sponsored space hopping event raised £4,000. A Horse Race night in the Newtonmore Village Hall raised £3,900 and £670 was raised at a golf event.

Glen and David thank all sponsors and individuals who have donated to the fund so far. The boys also reserved a special mention for the Skye Camanachd website for the additional exposure it gave their cause.

An associated YouTube video clip has already had 1,640 viewings and it has four main aims;

• To use the internet for a good cause.

• To get more hits on you tube than Susan Boyle!

• To get “Jock Paul’s bike into the charts”

• To get space hopping into the London 2012 Olympics.
