The Camanachd Association proposes to create a post of Director for Youth Development. 

The successful candidate will sit on the Board and will have particular responsibility for Youth Development. The Board will make this proposal to the AGM in April 2009 and if approved this additional position will have immediate effect.

The process of nominating candidates for election as Directors begins this week with the post of Youth Director being subject to AGM approval. The Board are confident that delegates will welcome this proposal and give their approval.

Duncan Cameron, President of the Camanachd Association said this decision reflects the importance the Board places of Youth Development. Youth Development has been a shared responsibility at Board level in the past but with the future of shinty vested in our youth it is important that this aspect of our game is given greater focus and a higher profile. At recent consultative meetings through out the country clubs placed Youth Development as a top priority for the future.
