| Portree Primary School Win Battle of the Scottish Champions! | |
| 23 June 2008 Portree Primary School came out on top in the battle of the Scottish Champions against Kingussie at Pairc nan Laoich to win the Urquhart Cup. Portree were Scottish Cup champions winning the MacKay Cup after beating Rockfield by 5 goals to 4 in the final in Oban. They also defeated Kingussie 6-4 on their way to the final. Kingussie won the Tulloch Scottish League beating Rockfield 4-1 in the final. Portree did not enter the Tulloch Scottish League as it's difficult to fit in with Local league competitions. Portree played with the wind in the first half and ran into a 2 goal lead but Kingussie pulled a goal back. Portree again restored their 2 goal lead but when Kingussie brought the game back to 3-2, it looked like Portree had a real fight on their hands. However the home side regained the upper hand and scored 3 more goals before the end of the game. The scorers for Portree were Angie Grant (3), Andrew Grant, Alex MacDonald and Connor Ross. Ashley Newman and Craig Ritchie replied for Kingussie. Top players for Portree were hat-trick hero Angie Grant, DJ Gilpen and Calum MacInnes whilst James Pringle always looked safe in goals. Portree captain Lorna MacRae was presented with the Urquhart Cup.
