Eoin Price To Captain Ireland Shinty / Hurling Squad - UPDATED! | |
08 October 2012 Westmeath’s Eoin Price will captain the Irish squad for the Shinty / Hurling double header against Scotland later this month. Price was part of the Irish squad which came out on top over the two match series last year and the new senior management team of Michael Walsh and John Meyler have given him the honour of captaining the side. However before the international, the 24-year-old will play for his club side Clonkill against Raharney in the Westmeath SHC Final on Sunday 14 October 2012. The Irish had their final trial in Athy on Sunday 7 October 2012 and Walsh and Meyler are set to announce their full squad on Wednesday 10 October 2012. As before, the squad will include three or four hurlers from the sport’s top tier as well as players from the second and third tier of the game. The senior first test between Scotland and Ireland takes place at the Bught Park, Inverness at Saturday 20 October 2012 and throw-in is expected to be at 1.15pm. The second test takes place at Cusack Park, Ennis on Saturday 27 October 2012 with a 2.05pm start. The Ireland U21 and Scotland U21 sides meet under the floodlights at St.Josephs Doora Barefield, Ennis on Friday 26 October 2012 with a 7pm throw-in. The Scotland Womens squad meet a Clare Camogie select at the Father McNamara Camogie Field, County Clare on Saturday 27 October. Throw-in is at 11am.
