The Camanachd Association is recommending the formal introduction of Rolling Substitutes to all levels of the game.
The recommendation will be put before a Camanachd Association General Meeting on Friday 3 February 2012.
The Rolling Substitutes pilot was successfully implemented in all Camanachd Association competitions during the 2011 shinty season. A review of the pilot by the Board, and discussion at this month's Season Review meeting, confirmed that Rolling Substitutions had been generally well received and should continue.
The Camanachd Association now recommends the formal introduction of Rolling Substitutes at all levels of the game.
The proposed re-wording of Byelaw 1.2.2 now reads;
A maximum of five Substitutes can be named per team, any three being permitted to play during a match, except in representative and U14 matches where the maximum permitted to play shall be four per team. A player who has been replaced by a substitute can himself be used as a substitute to replace a player at a later stage during a match. The Referee must be informed when a substitution is to take place and this is done by the Referee receiving a completed substitution card from the player coming on (on the 1st occasion only) informing the referee of the player's name and number, also the name and number of the player coming off. Subsequent substitutions will be noted by the referee.
In a separate move, the Camanachd Association is also looking to speed up the process and simplify the administration around substitutions by reducing the number substitutes listed from five to three with all three substitutes permitted to play during the match.

Clubs and Associations are now invited to submit counter proposals or amendments to these amendments. Any such submissions should be received by the Camanachd Association not later than 5pm on Friday 6 January 2012.
The final notice of the General Meeting and all relevant papers, including any counter proposals or amendments proposed by Members, will be circulated to Member Clubs and Associations on or by 13 January 2012.
The General Meeting will be held on Friday 3 February 2012 at the Ben Nevis Hotel, Fort William, with a 7pm start.
