WCA Cup Semi Finals - Order Of Play | |
18 July 2013 The order of play has been announced for the WCA Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup and Marine Harvest Challenge Cup semi finals which take place at The University of Stirling on Sunday 21 July 2013. The order of play will be as follows:
Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup – Semi Finals 12.30pm – Skye Camanachd Ladies v Glasgow Mid Argyll Match Referee: Dave Mitchell 2pm – Lochaber v Badenoch & Strathspey Match Referee: Dave Mitchell The Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup semi-final ties look set to provide some very exciting and strongly contested matches. Skye and GMA are up first and both go into their semi final tie unbeaten so far this season, albeit the Islanders play in a league below in WCA Marine Harvest North Division 2 whilst the Glasgow side has recently clinched the Marine Harvest National Division 1 title. However GMA will be mindful of the fact that Skye had an impressive victory over Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup holders Glengarry in the quarter finals. The sides have never met before. Later in the afternoon, the second semi final also brings together sides from both WCA Marine Harvest National Divison 1 and WCA Marine Harvest North Division 2. Marine Harvest North Division 2 league leaders Lochaber face Marine Harvest National Division 1 side Badenoch & Strathspey. This is Lochaber’s first time in the Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup and they won the 2012 Marine Harvest Challenge Cup. Badenoch & Strathspey have put in some good solid performances in National Division 1 this year so this will be a keenly fought match. The WCA is grateful to Peter Gow for his continuing sponsorship of the Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup.
Marine Harvest Challenge Cup 12.30pm – Dunadd v Strathglass Match Referee - Fred Mathisen 2pm – Cowal & Bute v Glasgow Mid Argyll Match Referee - Fred Mathisen The Marine Harvest Challenge Cup will also showcase two exciting matches. In the first semi final tie, 2012 finalists Strathglass will be desperate to go one better this year. They face Dunadd who are currently undefeated in WCA Marine Harvest South Division 2. In the second semi final tie, Cowal & Bute take on the Glasgow Mid Argyll second team. GMA were 4-2 winners when the sides met in Marine Harvest South Division 2 last weekend. The Glasgow side has the added incentive of trying to have a team in both the Valerie Fraser and Challenge Cup Finals in September 2013. The WCA acknowledges Marine Harvest’s continuing support of the Challenge Cup and the Women’s game in general. |
