Orion Group Premiership Kyles Athletic P Kingussie P The meeting between Kyles Athletic and Kingussie at Tighnabruaich was postponed on Saturday morning. The match is likely to be rescheduled for Saturday 9 November 2013 as Kyles travel to Lovat and Newtonmore over the next two Saturdays which takes us up to the international fortnight. This would leave a two month gap between Kingussie’s last outing, which was against Inveraray during the first week in September, and their final fixture against Kyles Athletic.
Marine Harvest South Division 2 Kyles Athletic 3 Ballachulish 1 Kyles Athletic are Marine Harvest South Division 2 champions following their 3-1 win over Ballachulish in their title play-off at Strachurmore. Kyles had not played since 24 August 2013 when they secured a crucial point in a 1-1 draw with Ballachulish at Tighnabruaich. Meantime Ballachulish, who have had plenty big game experience this season, having already won the Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup and the Bullough Cup, had won their final three league matches as they caught up with their games in hand to draw level with Kyles at the top of the table. Ballachulish had full back David Campbell free of suspension but the influential John MacDonald missed out as he started a three match ban following his sending off against Inveraray last weekend. John Whyte notched his first goal of the season for the Kyles reserves when he put his team ahead after 21 minutes. Whyte was to make an important contribution to the game and he increased his team’s advantage a minute before the interval with his and Kyles’ second goal of the afternoon. Lorne Brown gave Balla’ hope when he pulled a goal back on 74 minutes but Kyles responded almost immediately and John Whyte completed his hat-trick a couple of minutes later to make it 3-1. Kyles saw out the closing stages of the game to take the title and a delighted Kyles captain Fraser Williamson was presented with the Marine Harvest South Division 2 trophy. |
