Skye Camanachd To Embark On Fundraiser | |
07 June 2022 Starting at midnight on Saturday 25 June 2022, Skye Camanachd youth players, coaches, and a few club old-timers will embark on an epic 48-hour 1,892 mile challenge to raise funds. They will be fund raising for both Skye Camanachd youth shinty and for Counselling Care - Skye and Lochalsh. As we all emerge from a very difficult and testing period in the club’s history, as well as on a personal level for many individuals, Skye Camanachd has worked closely with one of Skye Camanachd’s valued Chaplains, Donnie MacDonald, who nominated the charity Counselling Care - Skye and Lochalsh. Donnie himself has been courageously yet quietly enduring many months of gruelling treatment whilst still remaining active as Senior Club Chaplain. We are delighted to be raising funds and awareness for this remarkable charity which works tirelessly within the Skye and Lochalsh area to provide accessible assistance to those who are faced with mental health issues. We all know the benefits of sport and physical activity which Skye Camanachd provides to many children from the primary club team, under-14 team, ladies teams and under-17 team. We often neglect to emphasise the importance of positive mental health. Skye Camanachd has taken great strides in setting up the Club Chaplaincy Programme where we are so fortunate to have three brilliant and proactive Chaplains who provide pastoral care to our youth players, ladies players and senior players. As an island community, accessing vital services can be difficult and having the resources and expertise of Counselling Care - Skye and Lochalsh is invaluable. Skye Camanachd would appreciate your support and contribution to this testing challenge. The go fund me link to donate is: https://www.gofundme.com/.../skye-camanachds-1892-mile... All monies raised will be split 50/50 between Skye Camanachd youth shinty and Counselling Care - Skye and Lochalsh. Over the coming days and weeks, on the Skye Camanachd Facebook page, there will be more information about our youth shinty, our fundraising aims, our Club Chaplains and of course information from Counselling Care - Skye and Lochalsh. |
