Skye Camanachd 4 Glenurquhart 0 | |
21 August 2022 Skye Camanachd stay second in the Mowi National Division after defeating Glenurquhart 4-0 at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 20 August 2022. There was a heavy downpour ahead of throw up and the fierce intermittent rain showers throughout the match made for difficult playing conditions. Skye’s John Gillies recovered from injury to start in defence whilst James Pringle and Iain MacLellan were also back and they were on the bench alongside Somhairle MacDonald and Sam Macphee. Glen David Stewart travelled without keeper Stuart MacKintosh, Josh MacDonald-Haig, Callum Smith and the influential Connor Golabek. This 3pm throw up was broadcast live on Radio Skye’s Camanachd LIVE show, sponsored by Mowi. Ross Gordon turned home Taylor Matheson’s low ball from the right to give Skye an 8 minute lead. The two Skye forwards then swapped roles as Taylor Matheson doubled Skye’s lead on 27 minutes, turning home a rebound after Ross Gordon’s shot was saved by Glen keeper Iain MacLeod. Ross Gordon got his second a couple of minutes later when he had time to steady himself before turning home Will Cowie’s ball from the right. Jordan Murchison, who was on the wrong end of a crude challenge as he ran through on goal moments earlier, completed the scoring on 81 minutes, sending the ball high into the net from a tight angle on the right after Glen keeper Iain MacLeod had got his legs to Ross MacKinnon’s high ball into the D. Skye remain four points behind league leaders Beauly with two games in hand.
