Scotland Ladies Head Coach Stuart Reid has praised the progress that Skye Camanachd Ladies have made over the last few seasons.
When asked on his take on the current WCA Marine Harvest National Division 1 Club of the Year, Reid said, “Everyone comments on how well Skye has come on over the last couple of years. They seem to be a real team both on and off the park. The results speak for themselves and I’m sure that it is no coincidence that the team’s progress coincides with Sarah Corrigall’s return to the Island. She is such an inspiring figure in women’s’ shinty and she gives her all to her role with Skye.”
Reid also recognises the club’s potential. “So many of the players are aged around the 15-16 mark and if the squad can stick together, it’s quite frightening what they could achieve,” he said.
The Scotland boss has included both Lorna MacRae and Caitlin MacLean in his squad to face Co. Down at the weekend. He added, “Lorna has been there and done it before and she is such an athletic player. She is a real asset to the squad. Caitlin comes across as quite quiet until you get to know her. She is such a good shinty player and she has impressed us all. I imagine she would be good at whatever sport she turned her hand to.”
