Kingussie 4 Kilmallie 3 Kingussie edged Kilmallie 4-3 at the Dell to win the Kingussie Festival Cup. This was a classic game of two halves with the first period belonging to Kingussie. Goals from Rory MacGregor twice, Savio Genini and Thomas Borthwick gave them a 4-0 half time lead. Their interval advantage could have been even bigger with Lee Bain also putting the ball in the net but Savio Genini was ruled offside. Kilmallie came right back into the match in the second half as strikes from Grant MacKenzie, Michael Rodger and Mark Graham to cut Kingussie’s lead to a single goal but the home side held on to win the trophy.

Strathglass opened the scoring on 10 minutes with Scott Douglas taking advantage of their early dominance with a well struck low shot. The Ballachulish team looked unsettled, and struggled to raise their game to the more physical North Division 1 side. The ever dangerous Robert Geddes pounced on a loose ball from close range at 20mins to extend the Strath's lead. Balla worked their way back into the game and finished the first half the stronger team, creating more chances but failing to hit the target. The second half started even with chances being created at both ends. John 'Bullocks' MacDonald scored a low driven penalty into the bottom right of former Ballachulish Goal keeper Steve 'Tommy' MacLaughlan's goal to bring the score back to 2-1. Scott Douglas countered within a few minutes. Play was flowing from end to end and Strathglass extended their lead to 4-1 through Darren Reid on 65 minutes. Lorne Brown made an impact when he came on as a substitute and scored from distance. A well worked passing move starting from deep within the Balla defence was cleanly finished by David Grant running onto a pass and shooting on the run to make it 4-3, showing the sort of play that the Laroch Bar sponsored side have displayed in their previous two friendlies. It was however the former Inverness player Scott Douglas that sealed the Murdo MacKenzie Cup for Strathglass by completing his hat trick on 85minutes.
