Portree High School U14 7 Plockton High School U14 0 | |
26 March 2015 Portree High School U14 beat Plockton High School U14 7-0 at the Portree High School Astro Pitch on Monday 23 March 2015. This match was played rather than the annual Sorley MacLean Quaich clash between the schools which had originally been scheduled for this date. Portree started brightly and they took the lead through Ruaraidh MacLeod after just 2 minutes. Plockton began to settle into the game and their forwards played some neat shinty but they rarely troubled Portree keeper Murphy Henderson. Portree doubled their advantage when Stewart Taylor finished well to make it 2-0 on the half hour mark and the hosts took this lead into the break. The second half started evenly. However Portree began pressing the Plockton defence once more and Mark MacQueen slotted the ball home from 15 yards to make it 3-0 on 45 minutes. Ruaraidh MacLeod made it 4-0 on 50 minutes with a fine solo effort. Plockton continued to battle hard across the pitch but they found it hard to contain Ruaraidh MacLeod who netted three more times to effectively end the game as a contest. First, MacLeod hit a low shot from 20 yards to make it 5-0 on 55 minutes. The Skye Camanachd U14 forward then conjured up a great individual goal on the hour mark to make it 6-0. MacLeod got his fifth and Portree’s seventh goal on 67 minutes when he beat Plockton goalie Fin MacPherson with a snap-shot from 15 yards.
