John MacKinnon Memorial Shinty Sixes Squad Line-Ups - Keithyboys | |
19 December 2013 The team line-ups are now being announced for the John MacKinnon Memorial Shinty Sixes which take place at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 28 December 2013. The second team from Kinlochshiel to compete in the tournament, led by Keith MacRae, will start amongst the competition favourites with Scotland international brothers Finlay MacRae, Keith MacRae and John MacRae included whilst their uncle Roddy Gillies is the veteran of the squad and he will play in goal. Mark MacDonald, who represented Scotland against Ireland in 2012, is also included as is U17 player Alasdair Nixon who broke into the ‘Shiel first team squad during the 2013 shinty season. The full “Keithyboys” squad is as follows: Keith MacRae, John MacRae, Finlay MacRae, Mark MacDonald, David Falconer, Roddy Gilles (over45), Ally Nixon (U17), Isabelle Mackenzie (ladies) Event Details The John MacKinnon Memorial Sixes is an invitational tournament and the competing teams should be at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree for registration at 9.30am with the first matches throwing up at 10am The competing teams will be mainly from Skye but there will also be sides from Kinlochshiel, Lewis, Lochcarron, a veterans Kingussie side and a team from Lovat’s Gallacher family. It is looking at this stage as if there will be fourteen teams in total taking part. Each squad will have a maximum of eight players and must include an over 45 player, an U17 player and a ladies player in their squad. There will be a trophy for the winners, medals for the winners and runners up, as well as awards for the Player of the Tournament, Ladies Player of the Tournament, Over 45 Player of the Tournament and U17 Player of the Tournament. The John MacKinnon Memorial Shinty Sixes will be jointly sponsored by DA MacLennan, Kyleakin and Highland Industrial Supplies, Inverness with the shinty balls provided courtesy of the Shinty Shop.
