Caberfeidh’s Win Sees Skye Camanachd Miss Out On National Second Tier Place | |
02 September 2013 Caberfeidh’s 1-0 win over Strathglass in their final Marine Harvest North Division 1 fixture sees the Castle Leod side leap-frog Skye into third place to secure the final slot in the new national second tier which starts next season. Skye had led the race to finish in third place but a slump during the second half of the season saw the Islanders take only three points from their last seven games. Caberfeidh have had contrasting fortunes and they have been on a fine run taking eleven points out of the last available sixteen points. Caberfeidh will join Marine Harvest North Division 1 champions Kilmallie and runners-up Beauly in the new national second tier. The South representatives will be champions-elect Glasgow Mid Argyll, Bute and Glenorchy and already relegated Oban Camanachd. The final place will be taken up by the second relegated team from the Orion Group Premiership and Fort William occupy that position at present. Skye Camanachd will be part of the new Marine Harvest North Division 1. They will be joined by Strathglass and Inverness as well as the reserve teams from Newtonmore, Lovat, Glenurquhart, Beauly and Kingussie. The knock-on effect for the Skye Camanachd second team is that they will not be able to take up the Marine Harvest North Division 1 place that they qualified for but will instead drop down to Marine Harvest North Division 2 where they will be joined by Glengarry, Fort William, Aberdeen University, Kinlochshiel, Lochaber, Lochcarron and Boleskine. |
