2017 Balliemore Cup Draw | |
26 January 2017 The draw for the 2017 Balliemore Cup took place at the Camanachd Association Offices, Inverness on Thursday 26 January 2017. The Balliemore Cup is contested between senior sides out-with shinty’s top division and there was an increase in participating clubs this year; from fourteen in 2016 to seventeen teams. With Camanachd Association President Jim Barr taking charge of proceedings, the draw was made as follows:
Saturday 8 April 2017 Balliemore Cup – First Round Col Glen v Aberdeen University
Saturday 22 April 2017 Balliemore Cup – Second Round
Saturday 20 May 2017 Balliemore Cup - Quarter Finals
Saturday 17 June 2017 Balliemore Cup – Semi Final Col Glen / Aberdeen University / Caberfeidh / Tayforth / Inverness Inveraray / Bute / Kilmory / Oban Celtic Two of the new teams to the competition – Col Glen and Aberdeen University - meet in the only first round tie with the Students doing the travelling. The winners will have a home match against Marine Harvest National Division side Caberfeidh. Tayforth have home advantage against Inverness and the winners will travel to play whoever comes out on top from the Col Glen, Aberdeen University and Caberfeidh grouping in the quarter finals. Skye Camanachd and Strathglass meet in an all-National Division first round tie in Portree with the victors having home advantage against Fort William or Aberdour in the last eight of the tournament. An all-South grouping sees Inveraray host Bute with the winners having home advantage against Kilmory or Oban Celtic. The final quarter final tie will see Taynuilt and Ballachulish meet at the Taynuilt Sports Field for the right to host Beauly or Glenorchy who meet at Braeview Park. The 2017 Balliemore Cup will take place on Saturday 15 July 2017 and the venue has yet to be confirmed. |
