2016 Caol Cup Squads Announced | |
22 August 2016 The squads gave been named for the 2016 Caol Cup match between North U21 and South U21 at Jubilee Park on Saturday 27 August 2016. Scotland U21 manager Alan MacRae said, “The Caol Cup is an exciting climax to the selection process for U21 players in the North and South areas and it brings together the best players of that age group, head to head in a very competitive challenge. The players involved were nominated by their clubs, assessed whilst playing club shinty, invited to trials and selected following competitive friendlies. I am sure that the match will produce an entertaining afternoon of shinty, and I know that both teams, under the guidance of Iain McDonald (South) and Calum McLeod (North) are determined to bring the cup home and secure the bragging rights for this year. The fixture is the final part of selection for the Scotland U21 team that will compete against Ireland at Bught Park, Inverness on the 22 October 2016, so the players on show will have the opportunity to bring success for their respective area as well as achieving personal recognition of being selected for their country.” Throw up is at 2.30pm.
