Good All Round Effort Pleases MacDonald. | |
22 August 2010 Skye Camanachd first team manager Aonghas MacDonald was pleased with the good all round effort shown by his side in their 3-2 Marine Harvest North Division 1 derby win over Kinlochshiel at Kirkton on Saturday 21 August 2010. “It was a good all round team effort,” said the Skye manager. “We showed a real will to win and we created and took our chances which was an improvement on last week.” “I thought everyone worked hard and we played some nice shinty in difficult conditions. We have been introducing some of our younger players in recent weeks to build our squad for next season. The younger guys have done well which shows the potential we have as a club. It’s just a pity that we haven’t shown a level of consistency in more of our games this season.” Reflecting on the contribution made by his players during the game, MacDonald said, “We were 8 players short tonight but I’ve always said that that creates opportunities for others. I thought Somhairle MacDonald looked really good tonight and having Iain Nicolson back in the forward line made a big difference whilst Danny Morrison and Iain Morrison worked really hard. Our midfield did very well and our defence were excellent. I’m particularly pleased for Martin Bruce in what was his first 90 minutes for the first team and he didn’t look out of place. He picked up a booking but showed that he wouldn’t be messed about. And not forgetting Michael Nicolson in goal who made some good saves at important times in the game – especially near the end.” The games don’t get any easier for Skye as they travel to Canal Parks to play Kilmallie next weekend in Marine Harvest North Division 1. |
