Newtonmore Announce Annual Player Of The Year Awards. | |
07 December 2011 Newtonmore announced their Player of the Year awards at a recent Dinner Dance in the Newtonmore Village Hall. The winners of the three club awards were announced on the night. Scotland captain and Newtonmore full back Norman Campbell capped an outstanding season when he was named First Team Player of the Year. Campbell was not only a Scottish Hydro Premier Division and Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup winner but he also collected the coveted Albert Smith Medal for man of the match in the "Scottish" win over Kingussie. He also captained Scotland as they narrowly lost to Ireland in the Shinty / Hurling international double header. The Second Team Player of the Year award went to reserve full back Michael Russell who also made some appearances in the first team squad. As well as collecting Marine Harvest North Division 2 and Strathdearn Cup winners medals, Russell also played a starring for the Scotland U17 side which beat Dublin U17 in July 2011. U17 player Liam Mullender was named Young Player of the Year in a season when he has established himself in the successful Newtonmore second team. |
