Skye Camanachd U14 8 Kingussie U14 0. | |
12 October 2010 Skye Camanachd U14 maintained their 100% record in North Division 1 with an 8-0 win over Kingussie at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Friday 1 October 2010. Stephen Murchison was added to the Skye squad which beat Glenurquhart U14 the previous week. Skye got off to a good start and Will Cowie put them ahead after 5 minutes. Angie Grant made it 2-0 when he fired into the net a couple of minutes later. Cowie went on to complete his hat-trick with goals on 11 and 20 minutes. His third goal was special as he took a pass from Angie Grant, turned and blasted the ball into the roof of the net. Cowie came close moments later when another turn and shot forced Kingussie keeper Lee Riddoch into a good save. Savio Genini was always a threat in the King’s midfield but the Skye defence, well marshalled by full back Stevie MacKinnon, was equal to their threat. Will Cowie was first to a corner from the right just 5 minutes into the second half but his shot came off the post. Angie Grant was onto the rebound but his effort was deflected for another corner. Kingussie stuck to their task and they introduced some of their 2010 MacKay Cup winners – Alexander Michie, Rhuraidh Anderson and Roddy Young – during the second half. Will Cowie scored his fourth goal 12 minutes into the second half to make it 5-0. Skye substitute Connor Henderson burst forward 5 minutes later to smash the ball home. Steven Murchison made it 7-0 when he latched onto a poor clearance 22 minutes into the second half. Kingussie were desperately unlucky not to pull a goal back 2 minutes later when a blistering drive from Fachie Grant came back off the inside of the Skye post. With 9 minutes remaining, Connor Henderson netted his second when he blasted the ball past Riddoch to make it 8-0. There was still time for one last Kingussie attack and Skye reserve keeper Chris Campbell saved with his feet from James Falconer. Skye now have one match remaining – against Fort William at An Aird. A point will see Skye confirmed North Division 1 champions for the third successive season.
