Hydro Electric Extend Shinty Sponsorship Deal. | |
08 June 2009 The Camanachd Association has agreed a new sponsorship agreement with Scottish Hydro which will see the Scottish Hydro - one of Support of these competitions will continue over the course of the three year deal but the new agreement sees the company expand further into the development side of the game by investing in the Premier Division, the National Player Development Camp and the U17 Development Squad. In addition to this, a Scottish Hydro Youth Development Fund will be established to help clubs to encourage young people into shinty. Stuart Hogarth, National Development Director at Scottish Hydro said: “We are delighted to be extending and expanding our support of shinty into both the Premier League and the Development Squads. We hope that our investment will contribute to strengthening the game both at the elite and grass roots level. “Raising the profile of the sport to try to bring new players into the game will be one of our main aims. This will be matched with tangible support of clubs through kit schemes and the Scottish Hydro Youth Development Fund. “We are proud of our Scottish heritage which has been built up since the companies’ inception in 1947. Since then we have had a presence in communities throughout The announcement of Scottish Hydro as title sponsors further strengthens the company’s links with Scottish sport which already includes sponsorship of golf’s European Challenge Tour through the Scottish Hydro Challenge, Scottish Community Rugby and the Scottish Hydro Electric Super Skills youth football programme at St Johnstone Football Club. This announcement comes just weeks after Marine Harvest announced an increase in their support of the game. With these new partnerships in place the future looks bright for the national game. Duncan Cameron, President of the Camanachd Association commented: "The Camanachd Association are delighted that Scottish Hydro have decided to continue and expand their investment in shinty for another three years. Their support for the game will range from youth development through the adult competitions to the Premier League and Camanachd Cup. It is appropriate and significant that Scottish Hydro who employs people from across many shinty communities is supportive of the sport and culture of their roots."
