South Skye Youngsters Make Presentation To Coach | |
28 November 2012 South Skye youngsters gave their coach John MacLeod a presentation caman last week in recognition of his lengthy service coaching the game in the area. John MacLeod has stepped down after spending seven years helping to coach the youngsters who come from Kyleakin, Broadford, Elgol and Sleat schools to the weekly practices in Kyleakin Community Hall. There are currently around 40 youngsters from the area playing shinty every Thursday. Around 20-25 players attend the P4 to P7 group who play between 6pm-7.30pm. Before that, around 12-15 players attend the P1 to P3 session which takes place between 5.30-6pm. Keith MacKenzie will continue coaching the young players but he has managed to enlist some help from Ally MacPherson (Heaste) and Ally "Spod" MacLeod on occasion too. John MacLeod hasn't stepped away from the game as he is now coach of the Skye Camanachd U14 side and he continues as a Camanachd Association referee. |
