04 March 2012 Skye Camanachd U14 beat Kingussie U14 2-0 in their North Division 1 meeting at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Friday 19 August 2011. The sides were both intention for the North Division 1 title and they took the field on a wet and windy evening. Skye pressed the visitors from the start and it took a couple of good saves from Kingussie keeper to keep the young Islanders at bay. Kingussie suffered a blow when full centre Savio Genini had to come off injured after 24 minutes. Iain MacLeod went close for Skye after 28 minutes when he took a ball from the right but he knocked it the wrong side of the post. Skye went close again 3 minutes later when a run and pass from Will Cowie was left by Iain MacLeod and Caitlin MacLean shot just wide of target. Cowie was in the thick of the action again when he ran at the Kings’ defence but his backhand shot went wide in what was the final chance of a goalless first half. In the opening minute of the second half, a Skye corner from the left was only cleared as far as Caitlin MacLean but the Kingussie keeper stretched low to his left to keep the ball out. A 30 yard shot from Will Cowie went just wide 9 minutes into the second period. However Skye made the break-through 4 minutes later when a Caitlin MacLean snap-shot beat keeper to put her side 1-0 ahead. Angie Grant burst through the Kingussie defence and shot home to make it 2-0 to Skye 19 minutes into the second period. Skye had most of the pressure for the remainder of the game although home keeper Raymond Gillies was called into action on a couple of occasions. The 2-0 win puts the Skye youngsters in a strong position to retain their North Division 1 title.
