Skye Camanachd Travel To Cannich In 2012 Co-operative MacTavish Cup Draw. | |
15 February 2012 Skye Camanachd will travel to Cannich to play Strathglass in the first round of shinty’s Co-operative MacTavish Cup following the draw made on Tuesday 14 February 2012. The winners of the tie between Starthglass and Skye Camanachd will have home advantage against whoever comes out on top in the tie between Lochaber and Lochcarron. This means that at least one club from Marine Harvest North Division 1 is guaranteed a semi final slot. Holders Kingussie face a trip west to play Kinlochshiel with the sides also due to meet at the same venue on the opening day of the Scottish Hydro Premier Division on Saturday 3 March 2012. The tie of the round is probably the derby between Beauly and Lovat at Braeview Park. These rivals meet for the Lovat Cup each New Year but this is their first competative clash outwith this fixture since Lovat won promotion to shinty’s top flight. Fort William have home advantage against Caberfeidh but with the ongoing maintainance work at An Aird is unlikely be to be completed in time, this fixture will likely be switched to a near-by pitch. Newtonmore and Kilmallie have been given byes into the quarter finals. Newtonmore will travel to play the winners from the Fort William, Caberfeidh tie whilst Kilmallie will welcome whoever comes out on top in the Kinlochshiel, Kingussie clash to the Canal Parks. The Co-operative MacTavish Cup draw in full is follows:

Hopefully the ties we’ve drawn will provide some exciting shinty.” Camanachd Association President Archie Robertson added, “We are very grateful to The Co-operative for their continued support of one of our sport’s most prestigious competitions.
