Skye Camanachd Duo Named In Scotland U17 Squad | |
03 July 2012 Skye Camanachd duo Jordan Murchison and Shaun Hedley have been named in the Scotland U17 squad for the Scottish Hydro Ireland Tour later this month. The pair have been Skye Camanachd first team regulars this season, turning in several impressive performances. This is a second selection at the level for Jordan Murchison who was part of the 2011 Ireland Tour. The Scotland squad travel to Ireland on Sunday 22 July 2012 and they play Westmeath U17 on Monday 23 July 2012 whilst the big match against Dublin U17 is the following day. The players then return home on Wednesday 25 July 2012. The tour has been taking place for over twenty years and sees the elite shinty players from the previous year’s Scottish Hydro National Player Development Camp make up the squad. National Development Officer Ronald Ross said, “The tour is an integral part of shinty’s player pathway; it is the last opportunity for players to test themselves before preparing to step up to under 21 and senior level. This year’s squad is made up of some highly skillful players, many of whom already hold spots in their own club’s first team. I am in no doubt that we will see some excellent displays of shinty / hurling skill.” Scottish Hydro Sponsorship Manager Jonny Petrie added, “It is very important to us as a company to support our local communities and our involvement in youth shinty does just that. These talented players are the future of the sport and we wish them the best of luck in their summer tour.” Scotland U17 from; Innes MacDonald (Kyles Athletic), Scott MacLeod (Beauly), Shaun Hedley (Skye Camanachd), Ewen Brady (Glengarry), Daniel Madej (Oban Celtic), Gary McKerracher (Oban Celtic) (captain), Malcolm Clark (Oban Camanachd), Hamish Anderson (Kingussie), Zach Coley (Kyles Athletic), Michael MacKenzie (Lovat), Jordan Murchison (Skye Camanachd), Craig Anderson (Glasgow Mid Argyll), Oliver MacRae (Kinlochshiel), Fraser Heath (Glenurquhart), Finlay MacMillan (Glasgow Mid Argyll), Jack MacDonald (Beauly), Patrick Toal (Lochaber) |
