Skye Boss Willie MacRae Happy In The End. | |
26 March 2012 Skye first team manager Willie MacRae said he was happy in the end following his side’s 2-0 Marine Harvest North Division 1 win over Inverness at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 24 March 2012. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacRae said, “I was happy in the end. It was a very nervous game until the last 5 minutes. There were times where it looked like Inverness might score and Aonghas had a great save from one of Somhairle’s shots. But we had around a dozen chances today and on another day we would have scored more goals.” MacRae felt his forwards just lacked that bit of luck in front of goal. He said, “The forwards work well together throughout the game but they just didn’t have much luck in front of goals – that was the problem – but we got there in the end.” Macrae had praise for his midfield, “The centre line took control in the second half. I thought Shaun Hedley had another great game and Allan MacKinnon did well when he came on. These boys have been training hard and they kept us in the game. We have to work on our finishing though.” Macrae also had a word for Jordan Murchison and his second goal. “That’s what Jordan can do. He scores goals like that for fun in training and he practices every day.” Skye travel to Cannich next weekend to play Strathglass in the first round of the Co-operative MacTavish Cup. MacRae said, “It will be a hard game down there. We beat them a couple of weeks ago in Portree so we will go with confidence and try to keep a clean sheet but we know Strathglass will be a different prospect on their own pitch.” |
