Skye & Wester Ross U14 Inter District Squad Named | |
29 August 2012 Skye & Wester Ross have named their squad for the U14 District representative matches at Spean Bridge on Sunday 2 September 2012. Skye & Wester Ross Head Coach John MacLeod has named a squad of 18 players for the games which will take the form of two semi-finals, a third / fourth play-off and a final. The Skye & Wester Ross squad features players from Kinlochshiel, Lochcarron, Skye Camanachd and Uist Camanachd. Skye & Wester Ross select from; Iain P MacKenzie, (Skye Camanachd), Shaun Henderson (Skye Camanachd), Caitlin MacLean (Skye Camanachd), Robert MacDonald (Skye Camanachd), Stephen Murchison (Skye Camanachd), James Pringle (Skye Camanachd), Connor Ross (Skye Camanachd), Frazel Froughi (Uist Camanachd), Calum Ferguson (Uist Camanachd), Nick Dalgety (Lochcarron), Christopher Gunn (Lochcarron), Niall Arnott (Lochcarron), Mathew Young (Lochcarron), Colin MacRae (Kinlochshiel), Jonathan Campbell (Kinlochshiel), William MacRae (Kinlochshiel), Fergus Dobson (Kinlochshiel), Calum Campbell (Kinlochshiel) Head Coach - John MacLeod Assistant Coach - David MacCuish Assistant Coach - Ross MacMillan These games form part of a Camanachd Association initiative to hold U14 and U17 age group district representative matches for the North area. The U14 event takes place at Spean Bridge on Sunday 2 September 2012 with the U17 event taking place at the same venue on the following Sunday. These inter-district competitions will also provide an opportunity for players to stake a claim for places in the North U14 and U17 representative teams to play their South counter-parts at An Aird, Fort William on Sunday 30 September 2012. The four Districts and managers are; Badenoch - U14 Michael Ritchie, U17 Glen Tonkin Lochaber - U14 Victor Smith, U17 Ally Ferguson Inverness - U14 James Gallacher, U17 Stuart MacKintosh Skye & Wester Ross - U14 John Macleod, U17 Murdo Fraser The U14 games will last for 50 minutes whilst the U17 games will be 60 minutesĀ long. The games begin at 12 noon both weeks. The coaches of the two Districts that contest the respective finals will be offered the opportunity to work together to select and coach the respective North Area teams against the South Areas at An Aird, Fort William on Sunday 30 September 2012. It is hoped that this event can be held annually and, as well as making the North area selection process as open and transparent as possible, itĀ will provide players and coaches with a pathway from club shinty to District and on to Area shinty before eventually progressing on to International participation.
