The 2012 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final between Inveraray and Kyles Athletic takes place at Mossfield, Oban on Saturday 15 September 2012.
Inveraray last appeared in the Camanachd Cup Final in 2007 when they went down 3-1 to Fort William at the Bught Park, Inverness.
However they beat Fort William 1-0 in the 2004 final at Mossfield, Oban to win the trophy for the first time in 74 years.
Inveraray started well and they had the ball in the net early in the game but Garry MacPherson’s effort was ruled out for offside.
The only goal of the game came on the 24 minute mark. Fort William keeper Scott MacNeil made a great save from a Russell MacKinlay shot, after the forward had collected a Garry MacPherson free-hit, only for Euan McMurdo to dart in and flick the rebound into the net to put Inveraray 1-0 ahead.
Inveraray continued to press in the first half, displaying their own brand of free-flowing shinty.
The Fort made changes in the second period with Willie MacDonald replacing Deek Cameron and Gary Innes pushing forward into attack.
They came close to levelling when Victor Smith put a ball from James Clark the wrong side of the post.
Inveraray had their fair share of the game and Fort William keeper Scott McNeil made magnificent saves to deny Andrew Stewart and Russell MacKinlay, whose effort which he turned over the bar in the closing stages.
Inveraray captain David “Bingo” Robertson, who was part of the losing side in 2002, stepped forward to collect the famous trophy and the celebrations began.
The Albert Smith medal for man of the match went to Inveraray’s Douglas Dando who did an excellent marking job on Fort danger-man James Clark.
