Scots Women At Full Strength For Clare Trip | |
25 October 2012 Scotland co-managers Sarah Corrigall and Laura MacKay fly out to County Clare with a full squad for their Shinty / Camogie international with Clare at the Father McNamara Camogie Field on Saturday 27 October 2012. The Scots party flies out on Friday 26 October 2012 in good health. “There have been a small number of league and university matches in recent weeks,” said Sarah Corrigall, “So it is always a worry that some of the players might have picked up some injuries along the way. But it’s great that we have a fully fit squad to pick from and that has not always been the case in recent years.” Glasgow Mid Argyll’s Katie Drain has been given the honour of captaining the Scottish side and Corrigall and MacKay very much see her as the leader in the pack. Corrigall said, “Katie is a fantastic team player and she has a lot to offer on the field of play. She is also very vocal and always encouraging other players, even the ones she doesn’t know so well. It’s great to have someone who is so supportive and Katie is a good link between Laura and I and the players.” Corrigall is keen to point out that there is strength throughout the squad. She is reluctant to mention individual players but when pressed, said, “We are really happy with the whole squad. We have the likes of Elaine Wink at the back who is a strong defender and a good hitter of the ball. Kirsty Deans is fast, fit and a good reader of the game. Katy Smith is a veteran in the team and an ideal player in the middle of the park. Laura Gallacher caught the eye last year, scoring 13 points against the British University side and she is another who is important to us. However I would stress that this is not about individuals but it is about the whole squad all playing their part and I include the substitute who will have a role at particular periods in the game. ”
