Scotland U21 Have Useful Clash With Newtonmore Side | |
07 October 2012 The Scotland U21 squad had a worthwhile practice match against a Newtonmore side at the Dell on Sunday 7 October 2012. The young Scots met a side featuring Newtonmore players such as captain John MacKenzie, forward Glen MacKintosh, senior Scottish internationals Norman Campbell and Steven MacDonald as well as Michael Ritchie, Chris Sellar, Blair MacKintosh, Conor Jones, Drew MacDonald, Mark MacDonald and a guest appearance from Kingussie youngster Rory MacKeachan who donned the blue and white hoops. Referee Deek Cameron confirmed that the Scots ran out narrow 13-11 winners in the end but the preparation for the U21 international was the most important aspect of this 14-a-side match. Scotland U21 were to play a University select in Inverness on Saturday 20 October 2012. However the Students are now unable to fulfil the fixture so the young Scots will travel to Edinburgh next weekend to play a University hurling team. The Scotland U21 side fly out to Ireland on Thursday 25 October 2012, a day earlier than their senior counter-parts, as the U21 international at St.Josephs Doora Barefield, Ennis takes place under floodlights on Friday 26 October 2012 with a 7pm throw-in.
